About Jane's Patisserie

ABOUT ME

Hiya! I'm Jane Dunn. I am the food writer, photographer and recipe developer behind Jane’s Patisserie.

I have been running Jane’s Patisserie for over 12 years now, my goal with this blog is to give you the fun, laughter, confidence and knowledge to bake and cook whatever you fancy.

Having started Jane’s Patisserie back in November 2014, after discovering my love for food whilst in education (Ashburton Chefs Academy in the early half of 2014 on their Culinary Arts Diploma), and it’s still going strong now.

HOW IT BEGAN

Before this blog, having had many other jobs… recruitment for Christmas grottos, a barista, customer service, admin, finance, and more, I always loved food. I loved baking, I loved cooking, and it was always what I went to for enjoyment and fun on the weekends and evenings around my other jobs.

As a child, my grandmother loved baking. I remember she had a vast collection of cookbooks, every recipe covered in her own notes and adaptations, and all of my passion that I believe came from her pushed me into attending cookery school instead of university.

I started Jane’s Patisserie after graduating and learning about all things FOOD. The production of food, the study behind food, the flavour profiles, how to cook and bake better, and more. This blog was just meant to be a bit of fun for myself to continue my passion for recipe development.

I took the lunch into blogging full time in February 2018, and I haven’t looked back since. With over 875+ recipes on my blog, 3+ million followers across social media, and five Sunday Times bestselling books Jane’s Patisserie is still going strong now.

What do I publish on this site?

  • Easy to read recipes for any skill level - I have always wanted my recipes to be accessible for everyone, but also enjoyable. Whether it’s the first thing you have ever baked or you are a skilled bakery shop owner, you will still love these recipes.
  • All sorts of bakes - cookies, cakes, desserts, sweets, traybakes, everything sweet that you can imagine.
  • A dabble in savoury - whilst I LOVE baking, I also adore cooking. More and more I am dabbling in the savoury side of recipe development, and I am loving it.
  • Tips and tricks - I will always write notes for ingredient swaps, the tips to make the best recipe, and any and all information I can think of to help you create the best bake.

My cookery books

Having written recipes for seven years, I was lucky enough to publish my debut cookery book Jane’s Patisserie in August 2021. Somehow, this book became the fastest selling baking book EVER. Three days after being released, it had sold 44,444 copies (my lucky number is 4). It was an instant Sunday Times Number One Bestseller, and has since published over 300,000 copies alone.

Since then, I have published four more books, all instant number ones and Sunday Times bestselling books. You can find a list of book exclusive recipes here

What I am doing now

Since the success of Jane's Patisserie has grown so much I have had the opportunity to work with so many brands and been lucky enough to appear on television shows such as This Morning, Saturday Kitchen, Saturday Kitchen with James Martin and chat about all things baking. The fact that my business has grown to the depths it has is mind-blowing - especially to now appear on live national tv with people I have always admired.

I regularly appear at different food shows around the country still to bake on stage, meet you guys and sign my books. But also, all whilst still writing recipes for this blog weekly, filming recipe videos and helping develop something else tasty to eat.

Brand partnerships

What I love about this job is being able to work with brands that I have used as a customer for years and years, even before this blog was born as well as after.

Interviews

Along side baking, TV appearances and writing books, I have done a fair few interviews and podcasts over the years about all things food and baking.

Happy Baking!

Jane x
